Tipoff for Basketball Game vs. IPFW Changed to 5 p.m.

The Nebraska Athletic Department announced Monday that the start time for the Husker men’s basketball game against IPFW on Saturday, Dec. 20, will be moved ahead two hours. The time change, which will let the basketball game tip off at 5 p.m. CT (instead of the originally scheduled 7 p.m.), is to help accommodate Husker fans who may also want to see the NCAA Volleyball Championship match at 7 p.m. in Omaha that night.

“We hope this time change is a way to help our fans support both basketball and volleyball in the state,” Executive Associate A.D. Marc Boehm said. “We would have liked to move the game earlier to allow basketball fans to come to the Devaney Center and make it to Omaha in time for the match. But due to building conflicts, 5 p.m. is the earliest we can tip off. Hopefully this will still allow fans to attend the basketball game and then watch the volleyball championship.”

Nebraska officials had originally hoped to move the game to an early afternoon tipoff. However, the time required to take down the UNL commencement ceremony setup and clean the facility would not allow for a tip earlier than 5 p.m.
