Huskers Gain Experience at Intrasquad Meet

Lincoln?The Nebraska women’s gymnastics team held it’s annual intrasquad meet at the Devaney Center Saturday in preparation for the 2009 season.

NU performed routines on every event, competing in Olympic order. The team gained valuable experience performing in front of judges for the first time.

“It was good for us,” Head Coach Dan Kendig said. “We got some first-meet jitters out of the way. It was our first time competing in the Devaney this season. It was a good learning experience.”

The Huskers were also able to perform in front of a crowd for the first time all season.

“It was great to have the fans here,” Kendig said. “We feel encouraged and motivated by everything.”

Nebraska opens its 2009 season at Denver on Jan. 10. The Huskers’ home opener is Jan. 30 against Penn State. Nebraska hosts the 2009 NCAA Championships April 16-18 at the Devaney Center.
