Hicks Earns Distinguished International Shooter Badge

Nebraska rifle coach Morgan Hicks was recently awarded a United States Distinguished International Shooter badge. The extremely prestigious award comes out of the Civilian Marksmanship Program. Since 1896, less than 600 athletes have earned the award.

Competitors earn points by placing in the top three finishers at the Championships of the Americas, Pan American Games, World Championships and Olympic Games, among others.

An eight-time All-American at Murray State in her collegiate career, Hicks was a member of the 2004 U.S. Olympic team, earning a 12th-place finish at Athens, Greece. She was also the 50M Three-Position Rifle champion at the 2008 International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup last March.

"We’re glad to have her in the family of badge winners, and expect great things from Morgan in the future, either in her own shooting or through her well-coached team," said Lt. Col. Bill Roy, director of operations for USA Shooting.
