Lost Pines, Texas - The Nebraska women's golf team produced rounds of 312 and 308 on Monday to finish with a three-round total of 938 and a seventh-place showing in the 16-team Challenge at Wolfdancer.
Kate White climbed the leaderboard throughout the day to finish in a tie for 11th place with a 54-hole score of 230. The junior from Waukegan, Ill., fired a two-over-par 74 in the third round on the 6,141-yard layout at the Wolfdancer Golf Club, after shooting a solid 77 in the second round. White closed the fall season with her fourth top-15 finish in five events.
Fellow junior Charlotte Wendner added a tie for 17th with a three-round total of 231. The native of Bjarred, Sweden, managed rounds of 78 and 79 on Monday, after opening the tournament with a 74 on Sunday.
Junior JC Stevenson also made a major push up the leaderboard on Monday, after a frustrating first round. The Grand Island, Neb., native bounced back from an opening-round 84 to shoot a 75 in the second round and 76 in the third round to close the tournament in a tie for 24th at 235. Stevenson finished among the top 25 individuals at all five of NU's fall tournaments.
Sophomore Rachel Hanigan tied for 51st (81-86-80-247), while true freshman Natalie Gleadall added a tie for 61st (88-82-79-249) along with fellow Husker freshman Maddie Sheils (85-83-81-249) in the 90-player field.
Colorado won the team title with a three-round total of 928, just one shot ahead of Texas Tech and the hosts from Texas State, which tied for second at 929. The College of Charleston and the University of Idaho tied for fourth at 931, while Iowa State finished sixth at 934.
Texas Tech's Megan Dowdy and Iowa State's Victoria Stefansen tied for the individual crown with three-round totals of 221. Texas State's Caitlin Bliss finished three shots behind the leaders at 224.
Nebraska is scheduled to return to action at the Aztec Spring Invitational, Feb. 15-17, in Chula Vista, Calif.
