Lincoln--Nebraska men’s tennis coach Kerry McDermott announced Monday, Nov. 24, that Eric Sock has signed his National Letter of Intent to join the Husker tennis team for the 2009-10 season.
A Lincoln native, Sock will return to his home state after playing high school tennis at Blue Valley High School in Overland Park, Kan. Sock won the Kansas 6A High School doubles championship his junior year at Blue Valley. Most recently, Sock reached the semifinals of the Missouri Valley Super Tournament where he faced some of the Heartland’s premier tennis players.
Head coach Kerry McDermott is excited about the potential of Sock and what he will bring to the tennis team.
“Eric is a kid that is just starting to reach his potential and I think can be a very good college player as he develops in our program,” McDermott said. “Eric’s strength’s are his dedication to wanting to improve on and off the court, and he is a very good student. He is the type of player that we are looking for and who can help this team continue to make a move in the national rankings and the Big 12 conference.”
