Huskers Return to NCAA Championships

Monday, Nov., 24, at 11:08 a.m. (Central) the Nebraska women’s cross country team is set to run at the NCAA Championship for the first time since 2003. After earning one of 13 at-large selections to the 31-team field, the Huskers will make their 14th all-time appearance at the national meet since its inception in 1981.

 

Fans who are unable to attend the championships can catch it live on CBS College Sports, check with your cable provider for channel information. Fans without CBS College Sports will be able to watch the race live via a web stream on NCAA.com.

 

Huskers Successful Again in Stillwater

With the Huskers’ appearance at the 2008 NCAA Championships, it marks the 14th-time in the meet’s 27-year history that the Husker women will be in the field. Including 2008, The Husker women rank 14th in the nation in all-time appearances at the championship meet, tied with Boston College.

 

The Big Red is also one of only 26 programs in the country with double-digit appearances on the women’s side, and one of only 15 that is competing at the 2008 championships.

 

Huskers Shine with Four All-Region Selections

In Stillwater, Okla. on Saturday, Nov. 15, four Huskers produced  four NCAA All-Region performances. The Huskers’ four honors tied the 2003 women for the most All-Region performers at the meet. Coincidently, the last time the Huskers reached the NCAA Championship was 2003, when the Huskers also ran at the regional meet in Stillwater.

 

The Husker women were by two-time All-Midwest Region and All-Big 12 performer, Lara Crofford. Crofford came in seventh with a time of 20:57.60 in the field of 187. Crofford was directly followed by fellow 2008 All-Big 12 performer Rachel Carrizales with a time of 21:06.05. Natalja Callahan repeated as an All-Region performer with her 20th-place finish (21:31.55) and senior Jen Pancoast earned the first All-Region honor of her career with a 23rd-place finish (21:34.25). The top 25 runners are named to the All-Region team.
