Session 3: Jolly Wins One Meter Dive

Lincoln ? Diver Courtney Jolly took first place in the one meter dive in Session 3 of 7 of the Husker Invitational on Friday evening. Jolly's score of 274.30 just beat out Iowa State's Tien Tran, who finished second with a score of 271.90.

In all, six finals events were completed during the session, including the 200-yard freestyle relay, 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard IM, 50-yard freestyle, one meter dive and 400-yard medley relay.

In addition to Jolly's win on the boards, the Huskers had a pair of runner-up finishes, in the 200-yard freestyle relay and the 50-yard freestyle. The team of Jess Andrews, C.J. Bray, Jenna Stroud and Hailey Dean set a team-best time of 1:35.92, just barely losing out to Rice's A relay team, who came in first with a time of 1:35.13. Andrews also finished in a tie for second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.84, again a season-best time for the Huskers in the event.

11 other Huskers scored in individual events during Friday's final sessions, including Mariah Hutchinson in the 500 Free (9th ? 5:06.90), Meredith Matthies in the 200 IM (10th ? 2:11.04), C.J. Bray in the 50 Free (6th ? 24.20), Jenna Stroud in the 50 Free (10th ? 24.74), and Emily Burbach in the one meter dive (4th ? 250.40).

The Huskers are in fourth place through eight events with a score of 371.5. Rice is currently in the lead with a score of 477.5.

Action continues on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. in the Devaney Natatorium.
