Las Cruces, N.M. - The Nebraska men's golf team wrapped up the fall portion of its schedule Tuesday with a 10th-place finish at the 18-team Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate. The Huskers posted a three-round total of 877, their best team score of the season. NU lowered its team score in each of the final three fall tournaments.
Sophomore Mike Coatman tied for 9th individually, his first career top-10 finish and the first top-10 finish for any Husker golfer since Brady Schnell placed third at the Big 12 Championship in 2007. Coatman carded a 73 in the final round to finish with a career-best 213 total.
Brandon Crick tied for 49th after shooting a 223. Andrew Wyatt was one stroke behind at 224 and tied for 57th. Mark Pillen recorded a career-best, one-under-par 70 to lead the Huskers in the final round. Pillen finished at 225, tied for 62nd. Tyler Parsloe finished with a 234 in 94th place.
Host New Mexico St. captured the team title with an 861. The Aggies' Travis Reid was the individual medalist at five-under-par 208.
The Huskers will take the winter off before getting back on the course Feb. 16-17 at the Rice Intercollegiate.
