Huskers Close Fall Season at Herb Wimberly

The Nebraska men's golf team wraps up the fall portion of its schedule at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 27-28) in Las Cruces, N.M. The Huskers are coming off a 14th-place finish at the Louisiana Tech/Squire Creek Invitational Oct. 13-14.

Mike Coatman leads NU this season with a 73.18 stroke average. Tyler Parsloe is just behind him at 73.82. Brandon Crick is third at 74.63.

The Huskers as a team are averaging 296.36 strokes per round.

The Huskers will hit the par-72, 7,074-yard layout at the New Mexico State University Golf Course with a shotgun start on Monday at 9 a.m. (central time). NU will play 36 holes on Monday, before closing the 54-hole event with the third round on Tuesday. The final 18 holes will also begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

The Huskers will face an 18-team tournament field that includes Air Force, Akron, Ball State, Cal Poly, Colorado, Denver, Idaho, Iowa State, Kansas State, Miami-Ohio, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico State, Northern Colorado, Utah, UTEP, Washington State, Weber State

New Mexico State has played host to the tournament since 1966, and the event has featured a pair of prominent champions during that time, including three-time U.S. Open champion Hale Irwin (1966) and Sports Illustrated and ESPN writer Rick Reilly (1979).
