Huskers Clipped by Billikens, 1-0

Lincoln-The Nebraska women’s soccer game with Saint Louis was for a good cause, but it was another losing effort for the Huskers. Playing in the four-team Toys for Tots Tournament, NU statistically outplayed the Billikens, but lost 1-0 on Friday in Saint Louis. The loss drops Nebraska to 0-4 on the season.

The Huskers once again created plenty of scoring chances, racking up 22 shots and putting 10 on goal, but couldn’t slip any past SLU goalkeeper Hannah Perry. The NU defense played just as well, allowing only nine total shots and two shots on goal for the Billikens. NU also created a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Saint Louis notched the only goal of the game in the 20th minute, courtesy of junior midfielder Ashley Hayes. Husker senior Brittany Pfeil made her first career start in goal and notched one save.

Senior forward Aysha Jamani speared the NU offense with four total shots, putting two on goal. Freshman forward Molly Thomas had three shots, directing two on net. Eight different Huskers took a shot on goal in the contest.

Nebraska returns to Lincoln to host UAB at the Nebraska Soccer Field at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. Live stats, audio and video will be available on Huskers.com for the game.
