Huskers Post Best Team Round Since Spring 2007

Pebble Beach, Calif. - The Nebraska men's golf team's 288 final round at Poppy Hills Golf Club propelled it to a 12th-place finish at the St. Mary's Invitational Tuesday. The 288 score is the lowest round posted by a Husker squad since March 2007 when Nebraska shot 281 at the Ron Moore Invitational. The Huskers finished the tournament with an 884 total, 29 strokes back of the champion, San Francisco.

Leading the way for the Huskers was sophomore Tyler Parsloe, who continues to gain confidence with every round he plays this season. Parsloe recorded an even-par round of 71, his second of the tournament, to finish with a career-best 217 and match his career-best finish - tied for 18th.

Mike Coatman shot a final-round 72 and tied for 35th overall with a 220, his first finish outside the top-20 in four tournaments. Brandon Crick's 74 was the highest score counted against the Huskers' team score in the final round. He finished at 225, tied for 58th place.

Andrew Wyatt found his form for the final round and, like Parsloe, posted a 71. Playing in his first tournament since breaking an ankle this summer, Wyatt struggled to scores of 81 and 80 in the first two rounds. But he showed signs Tuesday that he has found his game that made him Nebraska's No. 1 golfer in 2007-08. He ended the tournament at 232 and tied for 78th place.

Austin Zimmerman had a rough day, scoring an 87 and dropping into a tie for 84th with a 238. Still, the freshman from Lincoln Southwest showed some promise with his first two rounds of 76 and 75.

Domingo Jojola of San Francisco took home the individual hardware. Jojola finished at six-under-par 207.

The Huskers have next week off before heading to the Louisiana Tech/Squire Creek Invitational in Choudrant, La. Oct 13-14.
