Larson Earns AVCA National Honor

Lincoln ? University of Nebraska outside hitter Jordan Larson received a national honor on Tuesday, as she was selected as the Sports Imports/American Volleyball Coaches Association Division I National Player of the Week.  Larson earned the accolade after lifting the second-ranked Huskers to victories over No. 18 Kansas State and No. 3 Texas last week.

Larson averaged 5.0 kills, 2.62 digs and 5.44 points per set, collecting a pair of double-doubles in the process. At No. 18 Kansas State, Larson matched a career high with 21 kills, while also getting 10 digs, two blocks and an ace to snap Kansas State’s nine-match win streak. She followed that up with her 41st career double-double, and the second of the week, with a match-high 19 kills, 11 digs and two blocks in Nebraska’s 3-1 win over the Longhorns. The victory also ended Texas’ 19-match Big 12 win streak, which dated back to last season.

This is the 10th time an athlete from Nebraska has received the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week award, and the first since Sarah Pavan was honored in August of 2007.
