Nesseth Among Top Prospects in Northwoods League

Lincoln ? University of Nebraska pitcher Mike Nesseth was tabbed by Baseball America as one of the top-10 prospects in the Northwoods League in their latest issue. Nesseth, a sophomore right-hander from Windom, Minn., was rated as the league’s No. 2 prospect in voting by the league coaches, as the magazine looked at all of the summer collegiate leagues across the country.

Nesseth spent the summer pitching for the Duluth Huskies, going 0-2 with a 2.93 ERA in six starts. He fanned 27 over 31 innings of work, while holding opponents to a .212 average. That follows off the redshirt freshman year where Nesseth went 4-1 with a 3.58 ERA, fanning 53 and walking 14 over 37.2 innings to help the Huskers to 41 wins and a No. 1 regional seed. He was second on the squad with 27 appearances, and limited opponents to a .201 batting average.

The Huskers are in the midst of fall drills and will shift to Sherman Park during the fall beginning Monday. Nebraska’s Red/White Series is set for Oct. 14-15 with the Huskers wrapping up the fall with a game against the Iowa Hawkeyes in Iowa City on Friday, Oct. 17, at 6 p.m.
