The Nebraska rifle team ranks fourth in the preseason Great America Rifle Conference Poll released this week. The poll is voted on by league coaches.
Husker junior Amanda Jeffries ranks fourth in the preseason smallbore rankings and eighth in air rifle. A second-team All American in air rifle in 2008, Jeffries led NU with a 584.25 average. Jeffries, who won six individual events in 2007-08, is also the top returning smallbore shooter for the Big Red with a 573.17 average in 2007-08. Jeffries ranks third in the individual combined poll.
The only other Husker to make the preseason lists is Christine Costello, at ninth on the individual combined and 10th in smallbore.
Nebraska opens its season Oct. 5 at Nevada.
