Lincoln ? The Nebraska baseball team got together for the first time this season on Saturday morning, as the Huskers participated in the annual Lincoln Paint-a-Thon.
The team spent the morning painting, landscaping and doing yard work as part of the team’s community outreach efforts. The Lincoln Paint-a-Thon program runs throughout the month of August, as groups from around Lincoln paint homes of qualified low-income elderly and low-income permanently disabled homeowners.
The Husker baseball program has been involved in the event for more than a decade. NU student-athletes were part of the nearly 900 volunteers from around Lincoln who assisted in the 2008 event.
The Huskers begin fall practice on Wednesday, Sept. 10, and will wrap up fall drills the week of Oct. 13 with the Annual Red/White Series. Nebraska will close out the fall season on Friday, Oct. 17, as it travels to Iowa City to take on the Iowa Hawkeyes. First pitch is tentatively scheduled for 6 p.m.
