Canada Falls to Australia, 4-0

Team Canada dropped its third straight game in Beijing on Sunday, falling 4-0 to Australia. The Canadians are now 3-3 in preliminary round-robin play, but they still own a one-game lead in the standings for the fourth and final spot in the medal round heading into the final day of preliminary play on Monday.

Head Coach Lori Sippel would lead Team Canada to the medal round for the first time ever if the Canadians can defeat Japan on Monday (4 a.m. Central, click here to watch) or if Venezuela loses to Australia.

Former Husker Sheena Lawrick finished 1-for-3, marking her third straight game with a hit. Canada managed just three hits overall, and the Australians had only four hits of their own but they were aided by seven walks issued by Team Canada's pitching staff.

The game was scoreless until the sixth when Australia scored a single run. The Aussies, ranked third in the world, then added three more runs in the seventh to secure the victory and improve to 4-2.
