Page Produces in WNBA Debut

Former Husker Danielle Page scored seven points in her WNBA debut with the Connecticut Sun against the Minnesota Lynx at the Target Center in Minneapolis on Thursday.

Page, a 6-2 forward from Monument, Colo., saw 17 minutes of action off the bench for the Sun, who dropped a 68-57 decision to the Lynx in the exhibition opener for both teams. Page hit 3-of-6 shots from the field, while grabbing one rebound and one steal. She did not commit a turnover in her time on the court, although the Sun committed 24 turnovers as a team in the loss.

Fellow rookie forward Kerrie Gardin led the Sun with eight points, while Barbara Turner, Amber Holt and Kamesha Hairston each added seven points on the day.

Candice Wiggins led the Lynx with 18 points in her professional debut.

Page and the Sun will return to action on Sunday, May 4, when they battle the Phoenix Mercury. Tip-off is scheduled for 11 a.m.
