Tickets Going Quickly for Husker-Niner NIT Matchup

Lincoln -- Tickets for Wednesday’s matchup between Nebraska and Charlotte in the first round of the MasterCard National Invitation Tournament (NIT) are going at a solid rate, as more than 6,800 have been sold as of late Monday afternoon. More than 3,400 tickets were pre-ordered by season ticket holders while the nearly 3,400 other tickets were sold between 9 p.m. Sunday evening and 5 p.m. Monday afternoon.

Husker fans can still get great seats, as tickets are available in the C section chairbacks for just $10 while upper bench seats are on sale for only $5. The A and B sections are already sold out while only a handful of end zone seats remained Monday afternoon for the padded C section.

Tickets are available for purchase on Huskers.com or by going to the Athletic Ticket Office across from Memorial Stadium during regular business hours. Fans who purchase tickets on-line have the option to print them at home or pick them up at will-call.

The will-call area at the DevaneyCenter will open two hours before tipoff on Wednesday, at 6 p.m., an extra 30 minutes earlier than normal due to the heavy volume of fans expected to be picking up their tickets. Fans can also pick up their tickets at the Nebraska Athletic Ticket Office during business hours on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Nebraska and Charlotte will tip off at 8 p.m. on Wednesday in Nebraska’s first postseason contest under second-year Coach Doc Sadler. The Huskers own a 19-12 record and have one of the nation’s top post players in first-team all-conference center Aleks Maric, who has averaged a double-double this season with 15.9 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. Maric is gunning for a pair of milestones on Wednesday as he needs just six points to move into fifth place in the Nebraska career record book, and he needs just five rebounds to become only the second player in school history to record 1,000 career rebounds.

Charlotte will counter with a strong guard contingent, as senior Leemire Goldwire is ninth in the nation with 3.8 3-pointers per game while averaging 19.0 points per contest.  The 49ers own a 20-13 record this season, under the guidance of the school’s all-time winningest coach, Bobby Lutz.
