Logsdon Announced as SWA, Revelle to receive Contract Extension

The Nebraska Athletic Department announced Friday that Coach Rhonda Revelle has decided to step down as <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Nebraska’s Senior Woman Administrator, as she wishes to focus her efforts on her duties as NU’s head softball coach. Revelle will pass on all SWA duties to Pat Logsdon.  Revelle is currently in her 16th season in charge of the Husker program and is set to remain head coach for years to come as Osborne announced that a contract extension agreement with Revelle has been reached, although the details have not been finalized.

"Through much prayer and reflection, I have decided to step away from my Senior Woman Administrator duties, and concentrate my energies on being the Head Coach of the Nebraska softball team,” Revelle said. “I would like to sincerely thank Coach Osborne for being so supportive and a provider of tremendous insight and wisdom.”<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

“I have a lot of passion and energy for teaching and mentoring young people, and Coach Osborne has been completely understanding of my desire to focus my attention on coaching.”

With Revelle choosing to focus her efforts on coaching, Osborne named Logsdon to replace Revelle as Nebraska’s Senior Woman Administrator. Logsdon has been with the Athletic Department since 1979, and worked closely with Osborne during his tenure as head football coach. Osborne named Logsdon as NU’s director of football operations in 1997, making her the first female in Division I to serve in that capacity.

“Having known Pat and working with her for many years, I am pleased to have the opportunity to appoint her to this important position,” Osborne said. “Nebraska is known for having one of the top women’s athletic programs in the nation and much of that credit goes to individuals like Dr. Hibner and Coach Revelle. I know Pat will do an outstanding job in continuing that tradition and providing the best opportunities for our female student-athletes and staff.”

In addition to her work with Osborne and the Nebraska football program, Logsdon plays an active role in the NU administration. She was promoted to Associate Athletic Director for Administration in 2007 after previously serving as Assistant Athletic Director for Administration.

Logsdon’s current duties include oversight on all administrative issues and operational function of the Athletic Director’s office; oversight in the areas of administration, athletic medicine, nutrition, football operations and equipment; developing and implementing administrative policies and procedures, assisting with strategic planning, reviewing and maintaining game and coaching contracts and oversight of the administrative budget.

“I am honored to be asked by Coach Osborne to serve in this role as a champion for female student-athletes and staff,” Logsdon said. “I am also humbled to follow in the footsteps of these two outstanding leaders in Barbara Hibner and Rhonda Revelle.”

Logsdon will begin her duties as Senior Woman Administrator immediately. Revelle, who won her 600th career game last weekend, will aide with the transition while attempting to lead her team to its 14th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.

“Pat is an outstanding choice as she is highly respected, trusted and valued by everyone within the department,” Revelle said. “As I have worked along side Pat, I have learned that everything she touches is laced with excellence. She is an outstanding ambassador for the University of Nebraska and we are fortunate to have her as one of our leaders within the Athletic Department."
