<?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Lincoln ? Senior Emily Parsons won three individual event titles to pass the 100-career titles mark, but it was not enough to propel No. 12 Nebraska past fifth-ranked Michigan in a 196.575-196.075 loss Thursday night at the Devaney Center. In front of 2,416 fans, NU posted a 49.0 or better on vault and beam, but dropped to 3-3 on the year.

Parsons won the all-around (39.375), beam (9.875) and floor (9.875) crowns for a career total of 101, tying sophomore Tricia Woo for first on beam and floor. Senior Desire' Sniatynski and junior Vanessa Meloche also matched scores of 9.875 to win the bars title.
“Our three all-arounders (Parsons, Sniatynski and sophomore Maria Scaffidi) are doing a tremendous job, and Tricia was outstanding on beam and floor tonight,” Head Coach Dan Kendig said. “And it’s always gratifying to see Vanessa able to compete on bars. We hit 23-for-23, and every individual was key to our performance.”
Nebraska opened the meet on vault, where Parsons led the way with a 9.90 for runner-up honors. Freshman Erin Davis placed fifth (9.825), while Woo followed up with a 9.775 for sixth. Sniatynski and Scaffidi matched scores of 9.75, helping NU finish the rotation with a 49.00 just behind the Wolverines’ bars total of 49.175.
The Huskers continued on to bars, and Sniatynski and Meloche shined in a tie for the event title with a pair of 9.875 marks. Habbib tallied a 9.75, while Scaffidi, Parsons and sophomore Kathryn Howard tied with scores of 9.725. Nebraska wrapped up bars with a 48.95 and a running score of 97.95 to UM’s 98.375.
NU moved on to the third rotation on beam, and Parsons and Woo tied for first (9.875). Sniatynski notched a fourth-place 9.85, while Howard finished with a 9.825. Scaffidi and freshman Brittnee Habbib added scores of 9.75, and the Huskers wrapped up beam with a 49.175 and a running score of 147.125 behind the Wolverines’ 147.425.
Nebraska capped the evening on floor, where Woo and Parsons again stole the show with scores of 9.875 to tie for their second event titles. Sniatynski placed fourth (9.825), and Scaffidi and Habbib contributed scores of 9.75 and 9.55, respectively. NU combined for an event score of 48.95 and a final team total of 196.075 for a narrow loss to Michigan, which totaled a 196.525 on the day.
“I’m proud of our team’s effort tonight, “Kendig said. “I think our team will benefit from a short break with no competition next weekend, and we’ll be able to get back into the gym and focus on fixing some details in individual routines. We have a lot of people still working hard to give us needed depth on every event, and we’re looking forward to a strong second half of the season.”
Following a week off, Nebraska plays host to No. 13 Denver on Saturday, Feb. 23. Competition is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at the DevaneyCenter.
