No. 1 Huskers Capture Morgan State Title

Baltimore, Md.-Senior Lindsay Baker led the No. 1 Nebraska bowling team to its fifth tournament title of the season at the Morgan State Invitational in Baltimore, Md., this weekend. The Huskers rolled a total pinfall of 9,247 to top the 32-field tournament, while Baker notched a season-high 217.40 average for first-place.

"This was just a great tournament all around," Head Coach Bill Straub said. "I'm very proud of the team and extremely please with the outcome."

Baker's top finish marked the first time since her sophomore season that she claimed first place at a competition. Freshman Katie Ann Sopp joined Baker on the all-tournament team, placing second with a 217.20 average. Sopp also rolled a perfect 300 game during the team competitions this weekend.

Sophomore Cassandra Leuthold placed 17th for the Huskers with an average of 198, while freshman Christine Bator placed 19th with a 196 average.

The Huskers will have a two week break before traveling to the Holiday Classic in Birmingham, Ala., on Friday, Feb. 29.
