NU Tops Memphis for Second Straight Win

Oxford, Miss. ? Nebraska earned its second win of the weekend with a victory over Memphis on Sunday, defeating the Tigers 4,636-4,496.

 

Sophomore Amanda Jeffries won her second straight air rifle title with a score of 590, while senior Kirsten Weiss took top honors in smallbore (585).  In the team competition, NU topped Memphis in both disciplines, scoring a 2,340 in air rifle and a 2,296 in smallbore.

 

After Jeffries set the pace with a 590 in air rifle, sophomore Christine Costello contributed a 586 for runner-up honors. Freshman Elisha LaFond added a 583 for fourth, while senior Kim Chrostowski followed up in fifth (581).

 

Weiss led the way in smallbore (585), and Jeffries placed second with a 577. Costello and Chrostowski matched scores of 567, tying for fourth.

 

Nebraska returns to action tomorrow in a match with Memphis in Oxford, Miss., at 8 a.m.
