Former Nebraska defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch of the Tennessee Titans has been selected to take participate in the 2008 NFL Pro Bowl. Vanden Bosch is part of the 43-man AFC roster for the game which will be played on Sunday, Feb. 10 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Vanden Bosch was selected as a starter for the game, marking his second appearance in Honolulu. The Larchwood, Iowa native was also a member of the AFC Team following the 2005 season when he finished among the NFL leaders with 12.5 sacks.
In 2007, Vanden Bosch has played a key role for a Titans defense that has helped Tennessee to an 8-6 overall record. Vanden Bosch ranks seventh in the AFC and leads the team with nine sacks. His 101 tackles through 14 games ranks second on the Titan defense. He also ranks second on the team in quarterback pressures with 21 and is tied for second in forced fumbles with three.
Vanden Bosch has started all 46 games during his three seasons with the Titans. He is serving as a captain for the Tennessee defense in 2007. The selection of Vanden Bosch to the Pro Bowl marks the 18th straight season at least one former Husker has participated in the game.
Vanden Bosch was a standout student-athlete for the Huskers from 1997 to 2000. He finished his Nebraska career with 13 career sacks and 34 tackles for loss, while hurrying opposing quarterbacks 46 times. Vanden Bosch was a first-team All-Big 12 pick in 2000. He also won the 2000 National Football Foundation/College Football Hall of Fame Vincent dePaul Draddy Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award.
