On not being able to convert on third downs
“The defense just held us. They came out and played a great game. They got what they wanted.”
On the Big 12
“It’s an open run. A lot of teams lost today. Our next game is against <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Oklahoma State. We are going to work on that tomorrow.”
Bo Ruud
Senior, Linebacker
On why they were unable to stop Missouri’s offense
“They were hitting everything on third downs. And holding on the first and second and hit on those third downs. We just couldn’t seem to get them off the field. They did a good job.”
On what to take away from Mizzou’s offense
“With them you have to take away the deep routes first. Make them throw it short and they were. We weren’t tackling when they threw it short and getting them down right away. That’s what you’ve got to do. They were catching it short and getting the first down. We had to keep them from getting there once they caught it.”
Nate Swift
Junior, Wide Receiver
On how much the loss hurts
“Well it hurts a lot. It’s the first Big 12 North loss. They are a contender in the North, as all the teams are right now. It’s just tough to lose to a North team. Last year we beat all the North teams. This year it’s tough to lose to a North team.”
On what would have been different in getting touchdowns instead of field goals
“We felt coming out of the half that we were still in it. That we could still play with them. And come back on them, with us having the ball. If we would have scored a couple of more points in the first half it would have been even closer. So that would have definitely helped us.”
