Gary Pinkel
Missouri Head Coach

On the fans<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

“I’m very happy for the fans.  I’m very happy for their enthusiasm.  Most of them wore gold which I was pleased with.  We were a team effort there.  That looked good on TV I’m sure.  I don’t know."

On quarterback play

“It’s Chase’s birthday he turned 21 about ten minutes ago, and I was the first to wish him a happy birthday.  The offensive line it shows that if you give him time and they did a great job of protecting for him and he’ll be the first to tell you its the playmakers he’s got around him, he’s got a lot of guys.  Danario Alexander comes back and looks at the impact play he made.  He’s got a lot of guys out there that make plays and sometimes I just sit there and shake my head. But it starts with the trigger guy and I don’t know what else to say about him. I say so many things positive about the guy.  He’s a remarkable competitor and without a doubt one of the top three or four quarterbacks in the country, he has to be.”

On his team’s focus

“Our players were really focused.  They were talking about pedaling down hill and turning it up.  They were very focused for this football game.  I was hoping we’d go out and play well.  Our defense went out and got a stop and we went down and scored back-to-back touchdowns.  One of the stories tonight was how good our defense played against a really good offensive football team.  It was our best performance this year.  I told you before that you’ll be a lot better football team in October than you are in September.  We are a lot better football team than we were three weeks ago.”
