<?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Lawrence, Kan.-The Nebraska soccer team had the offense but Kansas found the back of the net on Friday in Lawrence as the Jayhawks defeated the Huskers 3-1 at the Jayhawk Soccer Complex.

The Huskers (5-9-3, 1-7-0 Big 12) doubled the Jayhawks’ shot total as NU had 22 shots, including 11 on goal, while KU (5-9-4, 3-2-3 Big 12) amassed just 10 shots, only six of which were on goal. NU outshot the Jayhawks 12-3 in the second half and recorded four corner kicks in the half. The Huskers had five total corners to KU’s four, while both teams had 10 fouls.
Sophomore midfielder Savannah Allen scored the Huskers’ lone goal in the 87th minute. Allen put a curving ball on goal from a corner kick that carried before a Kansas player misplayed the ball and put in net. The goal ended a 294-minute shutout streak for KU, dating back to Oct.14.
The Huskers were led offensively by junior midfielder Selenia Iacchelli, as she notched five shots, including three on goal. Senior midfielder Jessie Bruch had four shots before leaving in the second half with an injury.
The Huskers applied offensive pressure much of the first half, oushooting the Jayhawks 10-7 in the half. NU entered halftime down 1-0 after a KU goal in the 22nd minute.
Nebraska had their chances in the second half. An NU goal in the 34th minute was called back after an offsides call and freshman midfielder Anna White put a hard shot off the post just minutes later. NU forced Jayhawk keeper Colleen Quinn to make 10 saves on the day, while freshman Jessica Mills made three stops for the Huskers.
Nebraska returns to action on Sunday when the Huskers travel to Columbia to face the No. 16 Tigers at 1 p.m.
