Huskers Prepare for ITA Central Regional Tournament

The Nebraska women’s tennis team heads to Tulsa, Okla., this week to take part in the ITA Central Regional Tournament, hosted by the University of Tulsa. Nebraska is one of 33 teams in the ITA’s Central Region, including Big 12 schools Colorado, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

Qualifying for the tournament will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 17, with the main draw taking place on the 18th-21st. The Huskers have two players in place for the main draw already, senior Imke Reimers and sophomore Wiveca Swarting. Four other Huskers will be placed in the qualifying draw on Wednesday, including freshmen Jana Albers, Amber Chandronnait and Stephanie Evans and junior Maria Ring. Freshman Abby Buxton and juniors Marianne Cicmanec and Ashley Finnegan are all listed as alternates in the Qualifying Draw.

The Huskers will also be sending two teams to the doubles portion of the tournament, including the Papenburg, Germany combination of Reimers and Albers and the doubles team of Ring and Swarting. Chandronnait and Evans are listed as doubles alternates.
