Tulsa, Okla. - The Nebraska men's tennis team had their run at the ITA All-American Tournament in Tulsa, Okla., ended this weekend as three Huskers were eliminated from play. Juniors Renato Melo and Hendrik Stahmer and sophomore David Bendheim were all eliminated in the prequalifying draw on Saturday.
Stahmer and Bendheim both received first-round byes in the field of over 128 players. Melo took on Dusan Medan of Marquette, but fell short, losing 6-1, 6-4. Bendheim, facing off against Florida State's Brad Mixson, nearly pulled off a win, but ultimately lost in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. After his first-round bye, Stahmer took on NC State's Derek Stephens. Although Stahmer hung with Stephens for the majority of the match, he was unable to close him off and lost 7-5, 6-3.
The Huskers won't be in action again this fall until later this month, when they travel again to Tulsa for the Regional Championships, from Oct. 24-29.
