Lincoln --- The Nebraska men’s basketball team, under the guidance of second-year coach Doc Sadler, will hold open tryouts for potential walk-on student-athletes on Monday, Oct. 1, 2007. Registration will take place at the DevaneyCenter court from 7:30 to 8 p.m. with tryouts set to begin promptly at 8 p.m. It will be the second straight season under Sadler that the Huskers have held open tryouts for students on the Lincoln campus.
“We are always looking to see if there is anyone else who can help our team,” Sadler said. “Last year because of injuries, the students who tried out and made the practice squad became important players for us by the end of the season. We appreciate their effort and hope that we can continue to have this option available in the future.”
Nebraska already has 19 players on the 2007-08 roster, including six current walk-ons. Because of the roster size, there will be limited walk-on spots available for the upcoming season.
Male students who want to try out for the squad must be enrolled full-time at the University of Nebraska, with a minimum of 12 credit hours. A current, official schedule must be provided at the time of the tryout.
Students must also have had a physical within the past year and must bring a copy of the physical results or obtain a doctor’s signature on the tryout form. The tryout form, available on Huskers.com, must also be provided at the time of the tryout.
