The Lady Vols scored an early goal in just the second minute of the game courtesy of forward Emily Redberg, as Tennessee out shot the Huskers 9-4 in the first half.
Tennessee cranked up the offensive pressure in the second half, tallying 12 shots to Nebraska’s four. Freshman goalkeeper Jessica Mills hung tough for NU, recording a career-high seven saves in the game, but allowed a second goal in the 62nd minute. A UT shot deflected off a Nebraska defender and found midfielder Kylee Rossi in the right spot. Her goal put UT up 2-0 and sealed the game.
Forward Aysha Jamani spearheaded the Husker offense again. She recorded two shots, one of which was on goal. Midfielder Jessie Bruch had two shots, while freshmen Anna White and Alexa Cardona both contributed one shot on goal.
Nebraska continues tournament action against Georgia at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.
