Both Danns and Wims will compete in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, Danns as a representative of his native <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Guyana and Wims as a member of the U.S. team. The competition between the two Huskers should be fierce, as Danns recently took the title in the 200-meter dash at the South American Junior Championships, and Wims claimed the top spot at the U.S. Junior Championships. Danns won the South American event with a time of 21.27, while Wims nabbed the U.S. title at 20.86. The two will also square off in the 100-meter dash, where Danns finished third (10.48) and Wims finished second (10.24), in their respective national competitions.

Danns and Wims recently completed their freshman seasons at Nebraska and worked together on the NU school-record setting 4x200 relay team. They were also among a large contingent of Husker newcomers to qualify for the 2007 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, where Wims earned All-America honors with a seventh-place finish (21.05) in the 200-meters.

Competition for the pair begins on Friday, July 6 with the opening round and semifinals of the 100-meter dash, and concludes on Sunday, July 8 with the finals in the 200-meter dash.
