Lincoln ? University of Nebraska pitcher Brian Feekin has been selected to participate in the Coastal Plains League All-Star Game tonight at Capital City Stadium in Columbia, S.C.
Feekin, a 6-foot-6, 235-pound left-hander from Papillion, Neb., has been a major reason for Fayetteville’s 31-6 record and first-half title heading into the all-star break. On the year, he is 4-0 with a 2.81 ERA in six starts for the SwampDogs this summer. Feekin has struck out 32 over 32 innings of work and is holding opponents to a .139 average, a total that ranks third in the league. His best performance of the summer came against Outer Banks, when he allowed one hit over nine innings of shutout ball in a game that Fayetteville won, 1-0 in 10 innings.
Feekin, who redshirted in 2007 at Nebraska, was rated the No. 3 high school prospect in Nebraska as a senior at Papillion-LaVista High School in 2006, posting a 5-3 record and a 3.96 ERA, as he led the state with 70 strikeouts.
