A senior high-performance gymnast, Habbib is a five-year member of the Canadian National Team that previously included current Huskers Kylie Stoneand Vanessa Meloche. Habbib, who represented Canada at the 2006 World Championships, tied for fifth in the all-around and eighth on beam at the 2006 Canadian National Championships. She also helped the Canadian team to a third-place finish at the 2006 Commonwealth Games and notched a 15th-place all-around showing at the 2005 Pan Am Games. At Gemini, Habbib is coached by former Olympic gold medalist Yelena Davydova and Ukrainian men’s all-around champion Valery Yahchybekov.

“With her international experience and her success in Canada, we are beyond excited to have Brittnee join our team this fall,” Associate Head Coach Danna Durante said. “She is a very strong beam worker with a wide variety of skills and a unique style, and we look forward to her contributing to the Nebraska lineup immediately.”

Habbib joins Erin Davis and Stephanie Seich to complete the Huskers’ incoming recruiting class. Nebraska returns five All-Americans to its 2008 squad.
