Huskers Continue with Day Four of USA Outdoor Championships

<?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Indianapolis ? The 2007 USA Outdoor Championships continued for the Huskers on Saturday, June 23, in Indianapolis, as freshman Eric Lund finished sixth in the junior men’s 400 hurdles with a time of 52.18. Lund advanced to Saturday’s finale with a seventh-place finish in Friday’s preliminary round with a time of 52.54. <?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

 

Also scheduled to compete on Saturday was senior Ashley Selig in the second day of the women’s heptathlon. However, Selig withdrew from competition prior to day two’s first event, the long jump.

 

Former Husker Anne Shadle ran in the women’s 1500-meters on Saturday, finishing 10th overall with a time of 4:17.83.

 

The 2007 AT&T USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships conclude on Sunday and the Huskers will be well represented as three Nebraska athletes compete in the final day. Leading this group is junior Dusty Jonas, who will take on the men’s high jump beginning at 11:15 a.m. CST, while sophomore Brysun Stately will compete in the women’s pole vault at 11 a.m. Senior Jeni Steiner rounds out the Husker contingent in the discus, which starts at 11:45 a.m.

 

Television coverage of Sunday’s final events will take place from Noon to 2 p.m. on NBC.
