Lincoln - Nebraska senior-to-be Allison Stewart reached the quarterfinals of the Women's Western Golf Association 107th National Amateur Championship in Urbana, Ill., on Friday, June 15.
Stewart, who helped Nebraska to its second straight NCAA Regional appearance as a junior for the Huskers in 2007, tied for the 13th-best score with back-to-back rounds of 74 to finish at 148 during Tuesday's qualifying rounds at the Stone Creek Golf Club in Urbana.
During Wednesday's first round of match play, Stewart defeated Megan Johnson 2 up. On Thursday morning, Stewart moved on to the third round of the Championship Flight by defeating Gabrielle DiMora of Pittsboro, N.C., 1 up.
In her Thursday afternoon match, Stewart defeated Molly Aronson of Shelburne, Vt., 5 and 4, to advance to the quarterfinals.
In Friday's quarterfinal match, Stewart squared off with Stefanie Page from The Woodlands, Texas, and saw her run to the round of eight come to an end with a 4 and 2 setback. Page went on to finish as the tournament's runner-up, falling to champion Mallory Blackwelder from Versailles, Ky., in Saturday's championship round.
