Ten NU Wrestlers Make Big 12 Honor Roll

Ten Nebraska wrestlers qualified for the Big 12 Commissioner’s Spring Honor Roll, the conference announced earlier this week.  A student-athlete had to maintain a 3.0 GPA to qualify for honor-roll recognition from the league.

The list is led by Rob Plambeck, a sophomore biological sciences major from Lincoln, Neb.   Plambeck was one of 46 Nebraska student-athletes to earn a 4.0 GPA during the spring semester as he qualified for his fourth straight Big 12 Honor Roll.

Another Lincoln native, sophomore Casey Roberts, qualified for his sixth straight honor roll.  Roberts is a pre-architecture major.  Robert Sanders qualified for his fourth straight honor roll.  The nutrition, fitness & health promotion major from Blanding, Utah, also was named to the academic All-Big 12 team earlier this year.

Rounding out the list of multiple-time honorees is Casey Gubbels and Frank Jonas, who earned honor-roll status in each of their first two semesters at Nebraska.

Along with five multiple-time honorees, NU had five student-athletes earn honor-roll recognition for the first time in their careers.  That list was led by senior Dominick Moyer, a three-year starter for the Huskers.  Patrick Aleksanyan, Stephen Dwyer, Vince Jones and Levi Wofford also earned honor-roll status for the first time in their academic careers at Nebraska.

In all, 255 Nebraska student-athletes qualified for the Big 12 Commissioner’s Spring Honor Roll.  Overall for the academic year, Nebraska student-athletes earned 525 spots on the Big 12 fall and spring honor rolls, including 79 perfect 4.0 semesters.
