Eight Huskers Earn Honor Roll Spots

Lincoln - Eight current and former members of the Nebraska women's basketball team claimed spots on the Big 12 Commissioner's Spring Academic Honor Roll released this week.

Kelsey Griffin, a 2007 first-team All-Big 12 selection on and off the court, headlined the list of Huskers on the conference honor roll. The sophomore from Eagle River, Alaska, who was also a member of the Big 12 Winter Good Works Team, earned her fourth straight appearance on the Big 12 list.

Senior forward Chelsea Aubry, an honorable-mention All-Big 12 selection on the court in 2007, also continued her academic success with an appearance on the honor roll. The Kitchener, Ontario, native earned her fifth appearance on the Big 12 academic honor squad. Junior forward Danielle Page, a first-team academic All-Big 12 selection in 2007, added her fourth appearance on the honor roll.

Freshmen Kala Kuhlmann and Cory Montgomery both claimed positions on the honor roll for the second straight semesters, while former Huskers Ivana Drmanac, Elena Diaz and Heather Kephart continued their strong academic careers by claiming honor roll spots.

An impressive list of 255 Nebraska student-athletes across all sports claimed spots on the Big 12 Commissioner's Spring Academic Honor Roll. Among the 255 student-athletes who achieved 3.0 or better grade-point averages during the semester, 46 Huskers posted perfect 4.0 GPAs.

Overall for the academic year, Nebraska student-athletes earned 525 spots on the Big 12 fall and spring honor rolls, including 79 perfect 4.0 semesters.

Nebraska's approach to recruiting the nation's finest student-athletes yielded a remarkably diverse contingent of spring academic honorees that included representatives of 23 U.S. states and 17 foreign countries, including honor roll members from four Canadian provinces. The Huskers' Big 12 Commissioner's Spring Academic Honor Roll class also carried a distinct state flavor with 104 native Nebraskans among the 255 award winners.

The eight women's basketball players on the Big 12 Commissioner's Spring Academic Honor Roll came to Nebraska from five U.S. states and three foreign countries.
