Stillwater, Okla. ? After an upset victory on Friday, the Nebraska men’s tennis team was swept, 7-0, by No. 17 Oklahoma State in Sunday’s match at the DeBoisTennisCenter.
The No. 75 Huskers fell behind early, losing all three doubles matches to give the Cowboys the doubles point and the momentum going into the singles competition.
Unable to bounce back, the Huskers were defeated at all six singles spots.
“We played well as a team and had a chance to take the doubles point, but it just came down to OklahomaState being the better team today,” Nebraska Coach Kerry McDermott said.
For the Huskers, freshman David Bendheim, sophomore Hendrik Stahmer and senior James Clow were the most competitive during their matches taking their opponents to three sets at the No. 2, 3 and 4 spots, respectively.
The Huskers (7-9) take a break from Big 12 action to compete at home against Nebraska-Kearney on Thursday, April 5, at 2 p.m. The location of Friday’s match will be determined at a later time and is dependent on the weather. It will be played either at the NebraskaTennisCenter (indoors) of the NU Varsity Courts.
