Huskers Blow Past Competition in Windy City Classic

Chicago, Ill.-The No. 2 Nebraska bowling team ended its regular season on a high note with a win at the Brunswick Windy City Classic this weekend.  NU held a total pinfall of 13,485, which was nearly 400 pins over second-place Central Missouri State.

Nebraska topped many of the nation's best teams, including No. 1 Fairleigh Dickinson and No. 5 Central Missouri State.  NU is now 4-3-1 on the season.

Five Nebraska bowlers rolled their way into the top ten.  Senior Adrienne Miller led the Huskers with a 222 average for a second-place finish and a spot on the all-tournament team.  Redshirt freshman Cassie Leuthold rolled to a fourth-place finish with a 219 average, earning an all-tournament team spot.  Redshirt freshman Sarah Koch also made the all-tournament team with a season-best 218 average for fifth place.  Junior Lindsay Baker averaged a 209 for eighth place, while senior Amanda Burgoyne rounded out the top ten with a 201 average. 

"We had a very satisfying weekend," Nebraska Coach Bill Straub said. "We are going to try to sustain our level of competition with the championships in a few weeks."

Selection for the fourth-annual NCAA bowling national championship will take place on March 28 at 7 p.m.  The championships will be held on April 12-14 at the Brunswick Wekiva Lanes in Apopka, Fla.
