The Nebraska rifle team will end regular season action on Saturday, Feb. 10, with a final Great American Rifle Conference dual against Memphis at 8:30 a.m. at the NU Rifle Range.
The Huskers will not only be looking for a win over Memphis, but the final match scores will be used for NCAA selections and the National Rifle Association championship title.
The team score Nebraska earns at the sectional can be counted as one of a three-score average, in addition to scores set at the NCAA Qualifier, determines which programs advance to the NCAA Championships in March. The National Rifle Association also compares team scores from across the United States to crown an NRA team champion.
"We need a good performance this match," Nebraska Coach Launi Meili said. "We have our goals set high and we'll work very hard to achieve them."
The entire rifle team will be competing at this event, including newcomers Christine Costello and Amanda Jeffries. Costello will be shooting smallbore, while Jeffries will be competing in air rifle.
"I'm very excited to see how they're going to perform," Meili said. "They have certainly earned their way on the team."
NU Boasts Six Shooters on Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll
The Nebraska rifle team placed six athletes on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll for their academic achievements during the 2006 fall semester.
Kristina Fehlings, a senior finance major from Fairfax, Va., made the honor roll for the fourth time in her rifle career.
Juniors Kim Chrostowski (history), Katie Harrington (elementary education) and Kirsten Weiss (international studies) each earned their fifth straight appearance on the list. Chrostowski, Weiss and Harrington, who make up Nebraska's 2004-05 freshman class, have each been named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll in every semester while at Nebraska.
Newcomers Christine Costello, a pre-medicine major, and Amanda Jeffries, undeclared, earned spots on the list for the first time in their careers.
The Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes who earned a 3.0 GPA or higher during the previous semester. The rifle athletes were among 270 Nebraska student-athletes named to the fall honor roll. Thirty-three Huskers produced perfect 4.0 grade-point averages during the fall semester.

? NU vs. Ole Miss (Oct. 13) ? The Huskers began the 2006-07 season on the right foot with a 4,634-4,566 victory over Ole Miss at the NU Rifle Range. Senior Stacy Underwood topped the air rifle charts with a career-best 589 in the event. <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Nebraska was led in smallbore by junior Kirsten Weiss, who shot a score of 577.
? NU vs. Army (Oct. 15) - The Nebraska rifle team suffered a nail-biting loss to Army, 4,656-4,657, at the NU Rifle Range. Stacy Underwood claimed top air rifle honors with a career-best score of 590. Kirsten Weiss placed second in the air rifle competition with a career-high 589, blasting her former personal best of 583. Underwood then finished third in smallbore with a score of 580 to give the Huskers a 2,345-2,344 win in the event.
? NU vs. Navy (Oct. 29) -The Nebraska rifle team advanced its season to 2-1 after picking up a 4,648-4,564 win over Navy at the E.F. Horton Range in Fairbanks, Alaska. NU outscored Navy in both air rifle (2,342-2,312) and smallbore (2,306-2,252). Senior Kristina Fehlings shot the match-high score in air rifle with a 590, while Kirsten Weiss earned top honors in smallbore with a score of 584.
? NU at Alaska (Oct. 30) - Kristina Fehlings tied a career-best air rifle score as Nebraska fell to Alaska-Fairbanks, 4,655-4,674. The match, held at the E.F.HortonRange in Fairbanks, Alaska, put Nebraska at 2-2 on the season. Fehlings led the Huskers in air rifle as she scored 593 for a second-place finish. Junior Kim Chrostowski placed third in air rifle as she posted a season-high score of 590.
? NU at Kentucky (Nov. 10) - Nebraska fell short to Kentucky, 4,631-4,652, at a two-day competition held at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Ky. The dual left Nebraska with a 3-3 record on the season. Kirsten Weiss placed third for the Huskers in smallbore against Kentucky with a score of 577, while Stacy Underwood placed second in air rifle with a score of 588. NU fell to the unbeaten Wildcats in both smallbore and air rifle.
? NU vs. WVU (Nov. 11) ? The Nebraska rifle team soared to a victory over West VirginiaUniversity, 4,633-4,548, in Lexington, Ky. The Huskers made a drastic turn on Saturday, defeating West Virginia in both smallbore and air rifle. Individually, NU made top-three sweep in the air rifle competition as Kim Chrostowski placed first with a score of 589. Underwood placed second with a 588, while Weiss shot a 582 for third place. Weiss also led the smallbore competition, placing first with a score of 580. Junior Katie Harrington rounded out the top-three with a score of 577.
? NU vs. Air Force (Nov. 19) ? The Huskers defeated Air Force, 4621-4490, at the NU Rifle Range. NU dominated in both smallbore (2,281-2,192) and air rifle (2,340-2,298) in the competition. Kristina Fehlings led the smallbore competition with a 574, while Stacy Underwood placed first in air rifle with a score of 590
? NU vs. TCU and Air Force (Nov. 30) - The Nebraska rifle team finished its fall campaign with a first-place finish at the Air Force Invitational. The Huskers shot a season-high score of 4,661, defeating both TexasChristianUniversity (4,616) and Air Force (4,546). The Huskers dominated in both smallbore (2,326) and air rifle (2,346) in the one-day competition held at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. Stacy Underwood placed first in the air rifle competition, shooting a career-best 594, while Kristina Fehlings topped the smallbore competition with a score of 586.
? NU vs. UMKC (Jan. 20) -The Nebraska rifle team shot a combined total of 4,616 to defeat the University of Missouri-Kansas (4,226) at the NU Rifle Range. NU outshot UMKC in both air rifle (2329-2247) and smallbore (2287-2179), marking the fourth time the Huskers have beaten the Kangaroos in four matchups. Junior Kim Chrostowski and senior Stacy Underwood both placed first in air rifle with 287 average. Freshman Christine Costello earned a first-place finish in smallbore with a 578 average.
