Huskers Blast Past Kangaroos

Lincoln, Neb.-The Nebraska rifle team shot a combined total of 4,616 to defeat the University of  Missouri-Kansas (4,226) on Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Nebraska rifle range.  NU outshot UMKC in both air rifle (2329-2247) and smallbore (2287-2179), marking the fourth time the Huskers have beaten the Kangaroos in four matchups.

"I think we are struggling coming off such a long break," Nebraska Coach Launi Meili said. "We were not in the kind of sharp mind set that it will take to win the GARC this year, so we'll be working on getting up and focused for match days.  Our next match is the NCAA Qualifier in three weeks, so we have some time to really channel our training on match preparation."

The Huskers will have three-week break before hosting Memphis for their final competition before NCAA qualifiers on Sunday, Feb. 11.
