Gass Practice Fields - Lincoln, Neb.
Pre-Texas A&M
Defensive Coordinator Kevin Cosgrove<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>
On the <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Texas A&M offense
“They have outstanding talent. They have a big (running) back who is a tremendous player and a smaller back with tremendous quickness. So they have two different types of backs, and they can be in there at the same time. They run split backs, sprint option, sprint draw?they have a lot of talent. Their line is outstanding. It’s one of the better ones we’ve seen. (They have) a big tight end and a quarterback who is executing as good as you can.”
On the key to being more consistent on defense
“We played well on the road the first two road (conference) games, and we didn’t play very well against OklahomaState. We have to have more focus, more concentration.”
On the health of NU’s linebackers
“Corey (McKeon) practiced full-go today, and Steve (Octavien) was ready to go.
“(Octavien) practiced, I just limited him. But he is full-go.”
On what Nebraska improved on against Missouri following the OklahomaState loss
“We really had a limited plan (against Missouri). We had a few new things, but it was a limited plan. It was to utilize our talents the best we could against that type of offense. We had to change up some coverages a little bit, but our kids did a great job of executing.”
On the play of NU’s defensive ends against Missouri
“Our ends played very well. They played tremendously?(Adam) Carriker, (Jay) Moore and Barry Turner.”
