Columbus, Ohio?Junior Imke Reimers of the Nebraska women’s tennis team fell in the Quarterfinals of the Consolation Tournament at the ITA Indoor Championships Saturday, Nov. 4, in Columbus, Ohio.
With the loss, Reimers is eliminated from the tournament.
Reimers, who is coming off of an upset over the No. 3 player in the country, could not hold off No. 94 Anastasia Zhukova of Tennessee-Chattanooga. In the first set, Zhukova set the tone of the match early and took the set, 6-3. In the second set, Zhukova continued to roll and defeated the NU junior, 6-2.
“Reimers played hard, but you have to hand it to Zhukova,” assistant coach Hayden Perez said. “Reimers gave it a good run and it was a great experience for her, and we are looking forward to a good spring.
The loss marks the end of the Big Red’s fall schedule.
NU next takes the court in the home season opener on Jan. 24 when it faces Creighton at the NebraskaTennisCenter.
