Reimers Falls in First Round of ITA Indoor Championships

Columbus, Ohio?Junior Imke Reimers of the Nebraska women’s tennis team fell Thursday, Nov. 2, in the first round of the ITA National Indoor Championships to the No. 7 seed Diana Srebrovic, of Florida, 7-5, 6-3, in Columbus, Ohio.

The first set was hard fought, but Srebrovic, the 2005 tournament defending champion, edged out the NU junior, 7-5.  Srebovic carried her momentum over to the second set, where she slammed the door on the match with a 6-3 victory.

“Reimers fought hard and stayed with her,” assistant coach Hayden Perez said.  “Down the stretch Srebrovic played the big points a little bit better.  We are just looking forward to another match tomorrow.”

Reimers next competes in the consolation tournament, which begins Friday, Nov. 3, as she faces another tough draw in Stanford’s Theresa Logar, the tournament’s No. 5 seed.
