Stevenson Named Junior Amateur of the Year

Omaha - Freshman JC Stevenson received the 2006 Nebraska Golf Association's Junior Amateur Player-of-the-Year award on Friday at the group's fall banquet at the Omaha Country Club on Friday, Nov. 17.

Stevenson won her second straight NGA Junior Player-of-the-Year honor. The native of Grand Island won her first state title in June by capturing the Nebraska Girls' Match Play Championship. She topped that victory the following week by winning the Nebraska Women's Amateur Golf Association Stroke Play tournament.

In July, Stevenson claimed the state Independent Insurance Youth Classic and advanced to the semifinals of NWAGA Match Play Championships. She was also a repeat selection to the Nebraska Junior Golf Association's 2006 Girls' All-Star Team.

During the 2006 fall season for the Huskers, Stevenson competed in 14 rounds and posted a 79.00 stroke average. She also posted a pair of top-20 individual tournament finishes, including a tie for 12th at the Badger Invitational in Verona, Wis., in her first collegiate event.
