Coaches Update with Danna Durante

Hello, Husker fans!

It's November already, and we have had a great deal of change take place in our program over the past few months. The athletes are working hard and looking toward the start of our 2007 season, which will open up in Fayetteville, Arkansas at the Super Six Challenge on Jan. 5.

We finished our 2006 season strong with a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Championships. Over the summer, we reviewed our goals and have been working hard to upgrade our skills and improve some of our areas of weakness.

We have had several new additions to our team since August.  First, Tim Garrison from Southern California has joined our staff as our vault and floor coach. He and his family are adjusting well to life in the Midwest!  Tim is a great addition to Nebraska, and we are very happy to have his experience, work ethic and enthusiasm on our team!

Secondly, we have two freshmen, Molly Ohnoutka from Omaha, Neb., and Maria Scaffidi from Sussex, Wis.  Both are working hard in the gym and enjoying their first semester in college.

The gymnasts are putting routines together and getting better each day. We are planning to have our  annual intrasquad meet on Friday, Dec. 8 in our practice facility, Mabel Lee Hall. Be sure to check back at Huskers.com in the next few weeks to confirm the date and time of the intrasquad. We look forward to seeing you there!

GO BIG RED!
