Team USA Improves to 3-0 at World Championships

Kobe, Japan ? Behind eight kills and three aces from Nancy Metcalf, the United States Women’s Volleyball team improved to 3-0 at the FIVB World Championships with a 3-0 sweep of Cameroon Friday morning.

With Friday’s win, Team USA clinched a berth in the second round next week in Osaka, Japan, heading into Saturday’s match with Brazil, which is ranked No. 1 in world.

Metcalf, who is tied for the team lead and ranked sixth overall with 56 points, helped the United States hit .449 as a team in posting a 25-17, 25-18, 25-11 victory.

The United States will square off with Brazil Saturday at 2 p.m. in Japan (Friday at 9 p.m. central) and closes pool play with Puerto Rico on Nov. 5.
