Defensive Coordinator Kevin Cosgrove
On preparing for the KansasState offense
“We haven’t seen their total package. It’s changed by the week, particularly this last week where there were mostly 22 different personnel, their play selections were different. You see a lot of the same concepts, but the groupings are different. We have to prepare for it all, and that’s what we’ll do.”
On preparing to face a true freshman quarterback
“We’re going to approach it just like he is a five-year veteran. We have to play the defense called. We have to execute what we do. It’s about what we do. We can’t be concerned that they have a freshman quarterback in there or a senior quarterback. We have to execute and improve on what we did last week.”
On senior defensive tackle Barry Cryer
“Barry played very well last week. His quickness and reactions have been very good.
“Barry’s been pretty active all year. He’s corrected some of the mistakes he’s been making. He’s done a good job with that, and I think he just gives us a tremendous quickness and explosion.”
On KSU freshman running back Leon Patten
“(He has) tremendous quickness and explosion. He really is quick. He’s smaller, but he can get out on that edge and outrun people. He can get there in a hurry, too.”
On smaller running backs hiding behind the offensive line
“Sure they can. They have a big offensive line. The key is for our guys to get off blocks and separate so they can find him.”
