Opening Statement
"We're proud of our players and coaches. I'm just proud of the resiliency of our football team and the way that we came back and fought back and came back from behind and took the lead. Kansas played a fine game. We're really respectful of their program and their players and what they did today. I really hope (injured Kansas linebacker) Eric Washington is OK. He's an excellent player, and our thoughts and prayers go out to him."

On losing momentum
"I think we took ourselves out of rhythm in the second half. I felt that we had some turnovers that allowed Kansas to get right back in it. We turned the ball over on the short-field conversion, and then we turned the ball over at midfield. I think it was a 10-point swing right there in that third quarter. I really felt that that hurt us when we were trying to control the clock and the time by running the ball. We were making some huge runs, but consequently, they were efficient and executed some timely turnovers against our backs. It became a dogfight. You'll get into those types of situations in conference competition. That's the nature of the North Division."

On wide receiver Frantz Hardy
"We had three plays of over 75 yards today, and he was the recipient of two of those. He was incredible. The play he made early in the game on the out-and-up on their rookie corner over there -- I thought that was an excellent route. The one on third down here in the third quarter -- the one that put us ahead -- I thought was outstanding. I thought Frantz showed excellent speed and range and body balance trying to make that play. He came up not only with the catch but bounced up and burst into the endzone."

On the play of the backs in the second half
"I'm a believer that momentum is created by execution, and we didn't have the execution that we needed. Consequently, you lose that momentum when you don't execute and don't take care of the football and have the kind of ball security that you should have at home. I think our backs will get better than that. I think they'll learn. We're fortunate that we had the ability to come back from behind and put some points on the board there at the end to take the lead. Our backs are getting better every week. We had some good runs today, we just missed some opportunities and we weren't as effective in our ball security as we should have."

On the slowing of Nebraska's run
"It was one of those games where we were trying to balance the board. We weren't running every down. We were trying to get some good mixture of running the pass and play action. We wanted to create a rhythm, which we did early on. We came out in the third quarter and we were running it pretty good, then turned it over the second time. We felt we were making dents and had a chance to start getting some consistency and some good yards. Then you get stung with a turnover, and all of sudden it's a dogfight."

On wide receiver Nate Swift's overtime reception
"They were playing the three-deep coverage at the time. I thought Nate did a nice job flattening out. I felt from where I was standing that he extended the ball and crossed. It was a good route. It was excellent execution, protection, throw, catch. It was a great job by him to get the ball off, and the location of the throw was right there."

On KU's pressure on quarterback Zac Taylor
"I think Zac does an excellent job. We anticipated a lot of heavy pressure from a lot of different areas. They blitzed the corners, they blitzed the safeties, they blitzed the backers, so we were conscious of the fact that they were going to come in here and try to heat him up. I think we had a good pressure plan. I thought he did an excellent job."

On having confidence in the defense in overtime
"I thought our defense did an excellent job early on. I was really happy with the way our kids played with great pressure. (Defensive coordinator Kevin) Cosgrove came with a full house. He dropped the house on the last play of the game and really wanted to get after their quarterback (Adam Barmann). I credit our guys for the constant pressure they put on him in that overtime period to shake them up and force a quick throw."
