Omaha - The Nebraska softball team wrapped up its first weekend of fall competition by splitting a pair of games on Sunday during the final day of the Bluejay Softball Round Robin tournament at the Creighton Sports Complex.
NU managed a 1-1 record on Sunday, despite a heavily depleted roster. The first game was a rematch for the Huskers as they faced a North Dakota State team that used a four-run seventh inning to post a 4-2 come-from-behind win on Saturday. On Sunday, however, the Bison were unable to mount any offense as the Huskers shutout NDSU, 2-0, despite the limited number of available players.
In the nightcap, Nebraska dropped a 4-1 decision to host Creighton. The Bluejays were hosting their second tournament of the fall season, while NU saw its first action of the fall this weekend.
Both Creighton and Nebraska will be in action at the Big Red Fall Classic on Saturday, Oct. 7 and Sunday, Oct. 8 at Bowlin Stadium. The tournament will feature four games on both days and admission is free for the entire weekend. In addition to facing Creighton, the Huskers will play two games against Colorado State and one contest against Big 12 rival Kansas.
Live stats for selected games of the tournament, as well as complete statistical information from all games and cumulative statistics from the tournament will be available on Huskers.com.
